Republican Women honor Helming, Turner at 107th annual conference
ALBANY — The New York State Federation of Republican Women recognized two local leaders during its 107th annual conference. State Sen. Pam Helming received the Legislative Women in Leadership Award, while Trisha Turner was honored with the Henrietta Wells Livermore Woman of the Year Award.
“These awards recognize women whose leadership, service, and dedication have strengthened both their communities and the Republican Party across New York State,” NYSFRW President Heather Scribner said. “Sen. Pam Helming and Trisha Turner exemplify the values of integrity, commitment, and service that inspire Republican women throughout our state.”
Senator Pam Helming
Helming, R-54 of Canandaigua, serves as state senator for the 54th District, representing Ontario, Wayne, and Livingston counties, along with several towns in Monroe County. First elected in 2016, she became the first woman to represent the 54th Senate District.
Before serving in elected office, Helming spent more than 30 years in the private sector working in commercial property management, regulatory affairs, and land-use planning, while also advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Her public service began on the Canandaigua Town Board before serving as Canandaigua town supervisor, where she focused on fiscal responsibility, infrastructure improvements, farmland preservation, and economic development.
In the State Senate, she has been a strong advocate for veterans, law enforcement, farmers, small businesses, seniors, and working families. She has championed environmental protections for the Finger Lakes region, including passage of the Finger Lakes Community Preservation Act to protect local water and land resources.
Her legislative work has included support for tax relief, veteran services, rural EMS and volunteer firefighter recruitment, small-business growth, and affordability initiatives for New Yorkers. She also helped secure Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery’s designation as New York’s first state veterans cemetery. Helming serves on the Cornell AgriTech Advisory Council, represents the state on the National Conference of Insurance Legislators, and remains active in local environmental and community organizations.
Chairwoman Trisha Turner
Turner was honored in recognition of her leadership, service, and commitment to advancing Republican values.
A resident of Victor, Turner currently serves as chair of the Ontario County Republican Committee, which said her collaborative leadership and strategic vision have strengthened grassroots engagement and party organization throughout the county.
She is the Immediate Past President of the New York State Federation of Republican Women, where she led one of the state’s most active grassroots organizations, expanding membership, supporting candidates, and elevating the voices of Republican women across New York. She currently serves as Finger Lakes Regional Republican chair and as president of the Ontario County Women’s Republican Club. She also served as the regional director for the State Assembly. She has served as a board member for the Victor School District and is on the Victor Planning Board.
Turner encourages civic engagement and to empower women for leadership development, political education, and grassroots advocacy.

Our Bright Spot shines on the Ontario County Women's Republican Club helping give local veterans the trip of a lifetime.
The organization donated $9,400 to Honor Flight Rochester. The money was raised through the club's annual fundraising efforts and the generosity of its members and supporters.
The donation will help Honor Flight continue its mission of flying veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.
